OUR MISSION

The Grantmakers Council of Rhode Island (GCRI), a membership organization of private, community and corporate foundations, corporation giving programs, and
individuals with organized grantmaking programs or charitable endowments, works to educate and inform individuals engaged in organized philanthropy in Rhode Island.

Rhode Island Flood

Many Rhode Islanders have been displaced after the disasterous flood at the end of March. In just one day, the United Way of Rhode Island has attracted at least $500,000 in contributions to a new Rhode Island Flood Recovery Fund aimed at meeting needs not covered by federal government programs or private insurance.

Donors include Amgen, the Rhode Island Foundation, and the United Way itself, which each contributed $100,000 to the fund. Brown University contributed $50,000.
Amgen Foundation is also matching individual staff donations of $50 or more to the fund
Other contributors include Amica Insurance, $35,000, and FM Global and Cox Communications, $25,000 each; National Grid and Textron, $20,000 each; Washington Trust, $27,000, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island, $10,000 to the United Way Funds and $10,000 to the Red Cross. Read More...

Chile and Haiti Disaster Relief Resources Available

In response to the recent crisis situation in Chile and Haiti, we have posted various grantmaking
resources for disaster response, relief and recovery on the GCRI website and will update it as new
resources become available.

We encourage GCRI members to keep us informed of any actions your organization has taken
to provide assistance in Chili and Haiti.
